A hinge that fits a Legacy door with a 1¾-inch thick slab won’t necessarily sit flush on a heavier Estate collection door with a 2¼-inch slab. Before you order anything online, check the lower hinge edge for a stamped part number. If it’s worn smooth, measure the hinge leaf height and width; we can match it from there. For rollers, the wheel diameter matters more than the housing; Miami’s salt air eats the bearings first, so we insist on sealed stainless bearings whenever the door faces east toward Biscayne Bay. We stock OEM CGI hardware and quality aftermarket equivalents where the aftermarket part is a genuine upgrade, not just a cheaper copy.
Signs Your CGI Door Installation Is Failing
- The door drags or scrapes against the threshold plate. This is almost always a worn bottom roller or a hinge that’s lost its bearing under humidity load. The fix is usually a roller swap, not a door replacement, but left alone it’ll carve a groove into your threshold.
- The latch won’t line up with the strike plate. On a CGI door, that usually means the corner seam tape has settled or a hinge screw has stripped in the slab edge. We re-pack the jamb, use longer stainless screws into the stud, and realign the plate.
- You hear a grinding or clicking when the door moves. Grinding means bearings. Clicking means a loose roller axle or hinge pin. Both are cheap to fix early and expensive to ignore.
- The multipoint lock handle turns but doesn’t throw the bolt. The gearbox inside CGI’s multipoint mechanism wears faster in Miami because the salt air loads the track with debris. We can rebuild the gearbox without replacing the whole door.
- Condensation or fog between the glass panes. The laminate and seal on some CGI models needs resealing after enough Miami summers. That’s a door shop job, not a handyman fix.
