CGI Window Replacement: The Miami Owner’s Guide

CGI window replacement in Miami typically runs $850 to $2,400 per window installed, depending on the series, size, and whether you’re replacing the entire unit or just the failed component. We stock CGI-compatible parts on our trucks and can usually complete the swap the same day we arrive, assuming the sash or weatherstripping is the culprit rather than the frame itself. Most Miami homeowners discover the problem during hurricane season prep, when they notice the window won’t latch flush, condensation has settled between the glass panes, or the seal that once kept out salt air has started peeling away like old paint.

Call (844) 901-4551

Here’s the reality: CGI builds impact-rated windows designed for Miami’s specific abuse, salt-laced humidity, direct sun, and the occasional Category 4 trying to knock your house down. But even the best aluminum and laminated glass eventually surrenders to time. The good news is that a failed part doesn’t mean you need a whole new window. Often it means a new balance, a new weatherstrip set, or a replacement sash. Knowing the difference saves you thousands.

Since 2011, we’ve been the independent CGI service option Miami homeowners call when the big-box installer won’t return their call or wants to sell them a full replacement they don’t need. We’re not affiliated with CGI. We’re a locally owned shop led by Ed Winslow, and we install and service their products because they’re built for this climate. Ed’s name is on the door, and on every job we do. Call (844) 901-4551 and a live person answers, 24/7.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI’s lineup splits into two main families: the Sentinel series, which covers most single-family homes with its impact-rated aluminum frames and laminated glass, and the Estate series, built for larger openings, heavier sashes, and higher design pressure ratings. Within those families you’ll find specific lines like the CGI Sentinel 900, which shows up constantly in Dade County homes built after 2002, and the CGI Estate 760, common in high-rise condo work where wind loads are unforgiving at elevation. If you’re unsure which one you have, look at the label etched into the glass in one corner. It’ll show the series name, the impact rating (usually DP-40 or DP-50 for Miami), and a manufacturing code you can cross-reference.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: CGI weatherstripping, balances, and even screw patterns changed between manufacturing runs. A 2012 Sentinel sash won’t always accept 2024 weatherstripping without minor frame grinding, and the balance springs are tensioned to the specific weight of your glass, which means a generic aftermarket balance often leaves the window either slamming shut or creeping open. We match OEM parts first whenever possible, because the tolerances are tighter and the warranties align. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist for seals and rollers, and we’ll be honest when that’s the smarter money. But for tensioned hardware, OEM is the only call we comfortably make.

We also stock parts for PGT, CWS, and ES Windows, so if you’ve got a mixed house, which plenty of Miami remodels do, we can handle the whole job without bouncing you between vendors.

Signs Your CGI Window Replacement Is Failing

  • Condensation between the panes. That fog you can’t wipe away means the insulated glass unit’s seal has failed. Miami humidity gets trapped inside, and the window loses its energy efficiency overnight. Replacement glass is the fix, not the whole frame.
  • The window won’t latch without a fight. Frames shift, especially in older concrete-block homes as the ground settles. When the keeper and latch no longer line up, the window loses its impact seal, and that’s a real security issue in hurricane country that we take seriously.
  • Rollers that grind or stick. Salt air corrodes the rollers on sliding CGI windows faster than anything else. If you’re using two hands to open a window that used to glide, the rollers are done, and continuing to force them will damage the track and turn a $200 fix into a $1,200 replacement.
  • Weatherstripping that flakes or gaps. CGI’s gaskets are decent, but a decade of UV exposure and salt will turn them brittle. Once daylight shows through the seal, water and wind are next, and the energy bill spikes before the leak becomes visible.
  • Visible frame corrosion, especially at the corners. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but it does oxidize, and Miami’s salt air accelerates it. Pitting at the weld points or a chalky white powder along the bottom track means the structural integrity is compromised. We’ll tell you honestly if it’s cosmetic or structural, because that’s the difference between a repair and a replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed CGI window replacement in Miami breaks down roughly like this:

  • Replacement sash (glass + frame insert): $850–$1,600 depending on series and glass package
  • Full window replacement (sentinel series, standard size): $1,100–$2,400 installed
  • Weatherstripping or roller replacement (parts + labor): $150–$450 per unit
  • Balance or hardware tensioning: $120–$300 per balance, OEM parts included

What drives the range: window size, whether the opening needs new mounting hardware, and whether your HOA or condo association requires specific glass tinting or design pressure documentation. We provide a written, line-item quote before any work starts, and that number doesn’t move unless the job changes. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying and why. Every installation includes our Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, Winslow makes it right, period. That’s a lasting standard, and it applies to every CGI window we touch in Miami.

No trip charge inside our home county. $40 off any repair over $200. Permanent 10% discount for seniors and veterans. Those aren’t promotions; they’re how we do business.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s our honest take: you can absolutely check a few things before picking up the phone. Is the track clogged with debris? Is a screw loose on the latch plate? Is the weatherstripping visibly torn? Those are safe to look at. But the moment you’re dealing with a tensioned balance system, that’s where DIY stops and someone with the right training takes over. A balance holds the weight of a laminated glass sash, and when it releases without control, it doesn’t just damage the window. It can break fingers and hands. We’ve seen it. The same caution applies to anything involving the frame’s structural connection to the opening. If the frame is pulling away from the concrete, that’s an installation issue, not a hardware swap, and it needs a professional eye.

We background-check every technician, and they arrive in uniform with identification. You’ll know exactly who’s at your door before the truck pulls up. And when you call (844) 901-4551, Ed’s team answers. Not a call center, not a voicemail loop. A live person who can schedule your estimate.
